Depth Therapy
What Is Depth Therapy?
Depth therapy, also known as Depth Psychology, invites you to explore the hidden and unconscious layers of your psyche to address the root causes of emotional issues, thoughts, and behaviors. Depth therapy can help you become aware of what has been buried or hidden from your consciousness.
Healing happens when what has been suppressed and denied is uncovered, processed and eventually integrated into conscious awareness.
This work is often referred to as shadow work, and supports an awakening of your consciousness, and deep personal transformation. It’s through this process that you can learn to make conscious choices in your life and not be ruled by unconscious programming or past wounds.
Until you make the unconscious conscious, it will direct your life and you will call it fate. -Jung
Depth psychology operates on the belief that many psychological challenges stem from unconscious processes and unresolved past experiences. By bringing these hidden aspects into conscious awareness, you can find relief from lingering symptoms of anxiety, depression, trauma and relationship stressors.
Depth therapy utilizes various techniques to support your healing, including the exploration of dreams, free association, symptoms, symbols, meaningful synchronicities and coincidences, what arises between therapist and client in the session, archetypes and metaphors. These methods can help you access the subtle layer of your unconscious mind, allowing buried emotions, memories, and relational wounds to come to the surface for examination and integration.
Influenced most notably by the work of Carl Jung and Sigmund Freud, depth therapy emphasizes understanding and working with the unconscious, both individually and collectively. It's not a quick-fix solution but a gradual process, requiring patience, curiosity, and a willingness to confront uncomfortable truths. When you work with one of our depth therapists, you can gain profound insights into how and why you are the way you are, develop more effective coping mechanisms, and make meaningful changes in your life that lead to greater joy and fulfillment.
